Suncor Energy - Fort Hills Oil Sands Project

As one of the largest mining projects in the Athabasca region, construction activities during this period focused on finalizing and integrating key infrastructure for ore processing, extraction, and utilities systems.

Scope of Work

  • Completion of structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical work (SMP/E) in the primary extraction area, secondary upgrading systems, and tailings handling facilities

  • Installation and commissioning of large slurry pumps, thickeners, flotation cells, and dewatering units to support the paraffinic froth treatment process

  • Extensive tie-ins and hydrotesting of process and utility pipelines across ore prep plants, crusher modules, and water treatment systems

  • High-risk work scopes such as heavy lifting, confined space entries, work-at-heights, and simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) in live commissioning zones

  • Intensive tie-in work to live units Field-level support for functional testing, energization, and turnover to operations during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases

  • Ongoing brownfield modifications, punch-list closeouts, and systems integration aligned with Suncor’s safe work practices and start-up milestones
